Early Talent Recruitment 

We connect with students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals through our paid 10-week Summer Internship Program—a hands-on experience designed to build skills, confidence, and connections. We recruit through colleges, universities and platforms like LinkedIn and Handshake to reach a wide network of early-career professionals.

Our goal is to find and develop the next generation of talent ready to shape the future of banking.

Summer Internship Program Details

  • Duration: 10 weeks (late May through the end of July)
  • Location: On-site at our Wilmington, NC headquarters
  • Schedule: Full-time, paid (up to 40 hours per week)

This isn’t just an internship—it’s momentum for launching your career. You’ll contribute to real projects, grow your skills and collaborate with a driven, supportive team.

Our Hiring Process

Careers Step 1

Apply

Internship opportunities will be posted on our Careers page in  September. The application takes just 5–10 minutes to complete. We don’t require a cover letter, but you’re welcome to include one if you’d like. All applications submitted to Live Oak Bank are reviewed by members of our recruiting team. We do not use AI or automated systems to screen or reject applicants.

Prepare

Now that you’ve connected with a recruiter for an interview, it’s time to prepare thoroughly. We encourage you to conduct extensive research on Live Oak Bank and the specific role, with resources like our Our Story page and “The Live Oak Bank Story” video being excellent starting points.

Careers Step 3

Interview

Selected candidates will be invited to interview in October. The process may vary by role but typically includes a virtual or in-person conversation with the hiring manager and/or team members. A second interview may be scheduled if needed.

Decision

Final offers will be extended by late November. We aim to follow up within a few days of your final interview. If multiple candidates are being considered, the process may take a bit longer—but we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
