What is treasury management?

Treasury management is the set of banking tools a business uses to move money, collect payments, protect against fraud, and see its cash position in one place. If you’re running payroll, paying vendors, invoicing customers, and trying to keep track of what’s available to spend, you’re already doing treasury management. You’re just doing it by hand. Live Oak pairs you with a banker who helps you choose the tools your business needs — and skip what it doesn’t. Explore what’s available below.

Treasury management services are subject to approval and additional fees.

Pay vendors and run payroll

Send ACH batches and online wires instead of one-off transfers — payroll, vendors, and recurring bills from one place.

  • ACH payments and EFTPS
  • Same day ACH
  • Online wire originations
  • Business Bill Pay
  • Payroll drawdown
  • Approval workflows

Collect what you're owed

Pull recurring payments automatically instead of chasing invoices. Scan checks from your desk or deposit from your phone, accept cards in person and online, or have mailed payments go straight to a lockbox we manage for you.

  • ACH collections
  • Remote deposit capture
  • Lockbox
  • Mobile deposit
  • Merchant services

Protect your account

Positive pay holds checks and ACH debits that don’t match what you authorized, so exceptions wait for your review instead of clearing automatically. Customizable permissions limit what each person on your team can do, and you can require more than one approval before a payment leaves.

  • Check positive pay
  • ACH positive pay (credit and debit)
  • Customizable permissions and access controls
  • Transaction limits
  • Multi-party approvals

See every account and balance in one place

See what’s in every account, set the alerts you want, and send the numbers straight into your accounting software. QuickBooks connects directly, and most other accounting and ERP systems connect securely too. If you’d rather receive your data as files, we can deliver them to your own systems on a schedule you set.

  • Balance reporting
  • Custom alerts
  • Multi-company view with single login
  • Direct QuickBooks integration
  • Connections to other accounting and ERP platforms
  • Custom SFTP file delivery

Put idle cash to work

Once money is moving reliably, the next question is what it earns while it sits. Automated sweeps keep your operating account funded and the rest earning. Additionally, we offer extended FDIC coverage2 through the IntraFi network at no additional cost.

  • Automated sweeps
  • Zero balance accounts
  • Extended FDIC Insurance2
  • Multi-account positioning

Four Signs Your Business Needs Treasury Management

You don’t need a treasury department to need treasury tools. Most businesses hit these four moments first.

1. You're approving payments by text message

Someone asks “ok to pay this?” and you reply from your phone. There’s no record, no second approver, and no way to prove who authorized what.

2. Payroll and vendor payments take a full afternoon

Individual transfers, one at a time, from a login that wasn’t built for it. ACH batches turn that afternoon into ten minutes.

3. You're still driving deposits to the bank

Or mailing them. Remote deposit capture turns a stack of checks into a scan at your own desk.

4. You can't answer “how much can we spend this week?” in under a minute

If the answer requires opening four tabs and a spreadsheet, the problem isn’t your bookkeeping. It’s your reporting.

Treasury management FAQ

Remote deposit capture lets you deposit checks by scanning them from your own office, rather than bringing them to a bank. It’s available as an add-on on Business Plus and Business Plus Analysis accounts.

Yes. Live Oak offers a direct QuickBooks integration at no additional cost. Most other accounting and ERP platforms connect through a secure data connection via Plaid.

A lockbox is a mailing address the bank manages on your behalf. Your customers mail their payments there, and we receive, process, and deposit them, then pass the payment details back to you. It’s worth considering if a meaningful share of what you’re owed still arrives as checks in the mail, since it removes the opening, recording, and depositing from your team’s day. Lockbox is available on Business Plus and Business Plus Analysis accounts.

No. Live Oak is a digital bank. Deposits, payments, and reporting run through online and mobile banking.

It moves at your pace. Straightforward setups are often complete in a matter of days. More involved ones depend on how quickly you can provide what we need, and we tell you what that is up front. Onboarding is fully digital, with no paperwork to print and mail.
